Tegalalang Rice Terraces
Today I went to the Tegalalang rice terraces. Apparently Bali tourism exploded after the success of Eat Pray Love, making Ubud one of the most sought after destinations for ladies looking to find Javier Bardem. I kept on eye out for him myself, but came away empty handed, and broken hearted :(
The traffic getting to and through Ubud was extremely dense. After about 30min of breathing in exhaust fumes and scootering on sidewalks, in the wrong lane, up and over stuff etc... I looked to my right and saw the rice terraces which quickly erased almost all of the traffic stress from my mind. It is absolutely stunning. The pictures don't really do it justice. There are a lot of tourists, but it's so immense that it's easy to walk 5-10min through the valley and find yourself pretty much alone, except for some Koi fish swimming in a rice pond.
Balinese street food. Rice, noodles, and a bunch of weird meats cooked in hot chili lava. Delicious, but this made me poop fire.
Lizard friends.
