Travel daze. Seattle - Taipei - Bali
Ya know, 28 hours of international travel really wasn’t all that bad. Our flight left Seattle at 1:30am Tuesday morning, and we arrived in Bali 3pm on Wednesday. Within that period of time, we had some shockingly really not bad at all and almost super tasty airplane food, and met the Filipino version of my grandma who owns a resort on some tropical island. She gave Jazmyne a melatonin that was actually melatonin, and told us to come visit her resort. Then she insisted on hugs. Not a bad way to start off the trip :)
The Taipei airport resembles a very clean and orderly Las Vegas hotel. Everything is shiny and nice with plenty of stores where you can spend a mortgage payment on a handbag. All the gates are themed, and of course, one of those themes is Hello Kitty, because Asia. After walking around marveling at the cultural differences, we ate some delicious dumplings and went to our gate before we accidentally fell asleep in a duty free shop.
The flight to Bali was whatever, not terrible, not great. We were pretty exhausted. Jazmyne stole the good sleeping mask, so I read Stephen King’s IT, which is an excellent way to stay awake then your eyeballs feel like they will fall out of your face and into your shitty airplane coffee. Overall, C+. They lack of my Filipino grandma did not help either.
Getting through customs was long, but uneventful. We were picked up by a driver who works for our guesthouse. Thank god, because Bali airport traffic is insane. We made it through the insanity to our Airbnb, dazed and confused, but happy. Blah blah blah some more words here, look at the pictures.
