Gratuitous Food and Sunset Porn

Greeting people who are looking at these posts. We just finished up a 3 day stint in Ao Nang, a beach centric tourist hub in Krabi. It was nice, beachy, and full of very tasty food and photogenic sunsets.

I consider myself a lover of spicy food, with the ability to hold my shit together when things get hot. That has been the case up until last night when I ate the hottest fucking thing I've ever had in my entire life. It reminded me of this moment when I was very young, maybe 4th or 5th grade. We were making soup at school, because Waldorf is cool like that (liberal hippy pagan based private school), and I ate a pepper probably of the jalapeño variety. I distinctly remember my pores opening up like manhole covers and a torrent of sweat forcefully existing my body. I couldn't tell what was sweat and what was tears. It was just a salty mixture of what I assumed was my skin melting. The pineapple chicken curry I ate last night brought me back to that formative food experience. Just... violently spicy. And equally delicious. I ate almost the whole thing. By the end of the bowl I looked like I had just taken a shower with my clothes on and developed a raging fever at the same time. I thought I knew spicy. This was not the case. I know nothing. Unfortunately there is not a picture of the curry, but it was very pretty. My bowel movement this morning was only slightly painful, so yeah, will be eating this sort of thing on the regular.

Street signs in Thailand are very regal.

Durian. It doesn't smell bad, but oh boy does it smell. Like sweaty feet you might actually want to put in your mouth. Will report back when I actually try it. Most hotel rooms actually prohibit you from bringing durian into them. Serious business.

We saw a bunch of locals eating at this alley full of food carts, thought we'd give it a try. It was delicious.

Ginger stir fry with chicken. There was also big clumps of peppercorn that were super tasty and unexpected. Those peppers on top were flavorful but not spicy.

Sunsets on Ao Nang beach. Not pictured are the throngs of tourists taking similar pictures to what you see here. It's funny watching people awkwardly jumping in the air while there sunburned friend tries to capture the moment on their iPhone. All of those Instagram pictures with people jumping "gracefully" into the sunset look ridiculously fucking stupid in process.

Hypocritically, I took a bunch of sunset pictures and will post them on Instagram for sure. I just can't resist a good sunset. Goddamit my life is a lie.

Jazmyne digging the grapefruit rice wine thing. Super tasty, super dangerous, new sunset beverage of choice.
