Bangkok Impressions
I haven't posted anything for a few days because I really haven't taken many pictures. I've been too overwhelmed by Bangkok. It's crazy. It's easy to read on wikipedia that Bangkok is comprised of 8-9 million residents and gloss over what that actually means. What that means in reality is that there is a truly staggering amount of people and activity happening on every inch of this super metropolis. Like NYC x 10.
Some nice things about Bangkok is that there public transportation works really well. It's satisfying to ride the Skytrain through a corridor of skyscrapers and look down and see an ocean of unmoving vehicles choking the streets. It's very possible to get from one corner of the city to another without a vehicle.
They have the most extravagant malls. And lots of them. We wondered around a mall the other day that was 6 expansive stories tall. The top floor was a movie theater that looked more like a Vegas casino. There were exotic car dealerships on the 5th, including McLaren and Lamborghini and Rolls Royce. Yes, you can buy a fucking Lamborghini at the mall here. A mall similar to this exists every couple subway stops.
Bankok is a city comprised of extremes. It might not be the most relaxing place to visit, but it is truly unlike any place I have ever been. And that makes it worth checking out.
